When I published the article Intruder Introduction back in May, I had already started on its second part about shanks, wires and hooks. It took a little longer than I expected, but ended up as a pretty OK and thorough article on the subject. I had a lot of shanks through my hands, and covered the market as well as I could. It was published a few days ago, and took off like a rocket! It's just one of those articles that proves to be worth the investment in time - for me as the author, and for you as the reader it seems, judging from its popularity. I will be doing more articles like this, and one fun one that I'm working on right now is called "Odd materials"... or maybe "Materials in odd places"... or "Materials from odd places". Time will tell. It's about alternative sources for fly tying materials, and will cover some really inexpensive and surprising sources of very useful fly tying materials. Another one along the same lines is about articulated flies, covering tying methods, materials and interesting people tying these fascinating flies. Until then: shanks - and lots of videos as always.
